1973 Amtrack to Colorado...Kim and I

Going back....way back to the good old days when things were so simple...we got on the train in San Diego, 2 young gals with 3 weeks to roam Colorado...this is even before my hippy sisters moved there. Denver, Estes Park, Aspen, Mancos, Durango, and backpacking in the San Juan Mountains. What an adventure.

TRIPLE TROUBLE

We saw these rascally raccoon babies on our first photo field trip for the SHUTTER UP gang at KCLS. Their fat mama was just to the right of them. They didn't seem to care that they were making our day being the best "photo op" of the day at the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge in Washington.

A big part of our daily ritual is viewing our backyard birds. My husband takes the credit for luring about 15-20 different species year round...he keeps the feeders full. I feel brilliant identifying new ones with our bird books as they come. My kids laugh at me. Last summer was a good one for new arrivals...the cowbird, bushtits, and grosbeaks. All strange names for sure. With my photography, I can be seen dangling out the upstairs window to get those spy shots. This bird is one of my favorites, the male flicker.
